Olive oil is the basic source of fat for the Mediterranean diet. It has incredible beneficial properties as reducing the pressure and improve the bowel movements. The treatment of Alzheimer is one of them.
For obvious reasons, most studies are about the extra virgin olive oil, in which there are some phenolic derivatives such as Oleocanthal, which characterized by a strong biological action such as to prevent the entry of certain proteins that cause diseases in the brain. After investigations of Oleocanthal in animals, it was found that is capable of inhibiting the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
Those Polyphenols coulsd be found in extra virgin olive oil and are responsible for the healthy effects of olive oil. Besides the other beneficial properties of Oleocanthal, it’s consider equivalent to ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug having antipyretic activity.
